Picture what a politician looks like, and you probably don't picture me. Fair enough.

But we've spent the better part of 30 years electing people who all look the same, who all talk the same, and we wonder why nothing changes.

Jacqui Lambie's shown me that it's possible to be a different kind of politician, and it's not a mystery.

We need regular people to put their hands up.

That's what it takes. That's what I'm doing.

I don't promise to be the best political operator in Canberra. If that's what you're after, there are other options on the Senate voting ticket.

What I promise is that when I make a promise, I'll keep it. Hold me to it. I can't lie. It's not in my nature. I can't harm someone. I can't rip someone off. I can't take a shortcut just because it's easier, if it means the job doesn't get done right. I never have. It doesn't sit right with me.

I've worked in paddocks, factories, offices. I've helped people who've been out of work for years. I've driven them to their job interview myself. I've talked them through the nerves, and I've seen them get the job.

The way I did it? I didn't change their resumes. I didn't change their skills or talents, likes or dislikes, strengths or weaknesses. All I changed was how they felt about themselves. I made them realise that this job they're applying for is something they can really do, and do well.

Because when you've got someone who cares about you in your corner, who's backing you up and who's lifting you up, you can do way more than you can do on your own.

I want to back Jacqui Lambie up. I believe in her. I believe in what we can achieve together. So I'm putting my hand up. And I'm asking you to back me.
